Greetings from a *cringe* successful girl-mom

At 15 I had my first child and at 19 my second. We live in a town where teen pregnancy was common, but unacceptable. My live change irrevocably.... for the better. Some days were harder than others, but I now have a beautiful 18 year-old college sophomore daughter and an awesome 15 year-old high school sophomore son. When people say, "You don't look old enough to have a child in college!" I smile knowingly and respond, "I'm not, but nonetheless..."

Welcome! We've got a lot of grown-up teen moms on our site, at this point, since it's been more than a decade since we started.

Make sure to check out our mission statement to get a sense of what we're all about. It's here: http://girlmom.com/node/3126

See you around the boards. :)

Welcome!!! I guess we'll never stop hearing that! I had my daughter at 16 and she's 11 now! I get the "You look too young..." or "Are you sisters?" all the time.

*my mom gets the same responses, btw* She was a girl -mom.

When my daughter was born, everyone thought she was my mom's kid. My mom still had a 7 and 9 year old at home. Now her youngest is graduating high school next month and her oldest (me) is finishing up her MA. People are so shocked.

People say that stuff about me having a 10 year old. :)

Again, welcome!

I had my first child at 15 as well. He is 9 now. I'm a stay at home mom and I absolutely love i. I have 3 kids now and I'm the youngest parent at the school by SEVERAL years :) I tried to go to the local high schools to ask if I could do a segment on teen parenting in the Sex Ed class but was told that I made it look "easy" and that they were afraid I would make girls want to have a baby. It was frustrating to say the least that I couldn't help bc I was "too good at being a teen parent" I love your title though and it made me think of that story :)
