Question to those of you who have Nanny-ed....

For those of you who have been a nanny, how much did you charge? I'm specifically interested if you lived in the clients home....
Thank you! :)

I was a nanny and slept her

I was a nanny and slept her house at least every weekend sometimes more-- often enough I had my own room. I was 16 and I am pretty sure it was less than 200 a week.

Hope that helps!

I watched her one year old

I watched her one year old 100% of the time and on the weekends I watched her 3 year old also when she had visitation.

For me, it really depended on

For me, it really depended on the circumstances (though I've never lived in a client's home). If I am caring for a child regularly, I will charge less. Likewise if I am bringing my own child. For about a year, I nannied for $5/hour with my son in tow. I think, in that instance, even bringing my own son, I was undercharging them. I would be comfortable charging up to $15/hour, again, depending on the circumstances.

What's your experience with kids? Do you have any background in child development? How old are the kids you are caring for? What will your responsibilities be (just childcare? some cooking/cleaning/other stuff too) What's the financial situation of the family you're looking to work with?

I made 375 a week as a live

I made 375 a week as a live in with my kiddo. I also had four children as well. If they are paying for your gas to get the kids and food and all other living expenses I think that 300 a week would be fair.

I have not "nanny-ed" but as

I have not "nanny-ed" but as an occasional (weekly) babysitter I have been paid $10/one child, and $12/two children. I have always sought gigs that welcome my daughter to come along with me. The family has always provided us with a meal if we'll be there during a mealtime, and money for the children's activities if we left- like ice cream, movies, etc.
