Tell me it's OK to get a C

Ugh, I have this one class that there is just not enough time to get all the work done well enough for a good mark. I'm sort of a perfectionist, so it really stresses me out to think I might end up with a C. I feel like I'd be throwing away my chances at grad school.
I'm trying to be reasonable with myself. I mean really, who cares? C is average. The prof won't think any less of me, she knows I am freaking busy and probably doesn't expect me to get an A. But... I do. Gah. Talk reason to me!

One C is not going to keep you out of grad school if you are a competitive applicant in other ways, plus if you feel like you need to, most applications will let you explain any unusual things on your transcript. You could also take a similar class later and show a better mark. I dropped chemistry my first semester of college late enough in the semester that it is a W on my transcript, but now I am taking it again and kicking butt. I would try and bring it to a B if you can, but even if you do end up with a C, it won't totally wreck your GPA, you will still get a degree and you will also still have a chance at grad school.

The program I'm looking at has a pretty low entrance requirement anyways, the minimum for entrance is only an average of 70. And all my other grades are in the 80s and 90s, or they will be unless something changes.
So it really shouldn't be a big deal. Right?

I'm the same as you, there's one class I'm in right now where I got 65% on the midterm. My lowest mark in my other classes is a 95. It's SO hard not to stress on the one low grade, especially since I know my other ones will curve it up. People place the biggest expectations on themselves, heh. If it really bothers you, can you talk to your instructor and see if there's a makeup assignment you can do? I managed to get one. 14 pages of a handwritten research assignment, but it popped my midterm back up to 90.

Its ok Mama! I got a C in my math class and still graduated honors cum laude with a 3.7 gpa. Its not going to ruin you.. we all have classes we're not as strong at.

i feel so lame lol... i have always been a really strong student, but i have only managed to get even a 3.5 one semester since having Devin. This semester I got a 3.35... I don't know how you girls do it... maybe I do not put enough effort into it who knows!

Re: Tell me it's OK to get a C

it might make a difference that i don't take a full courseload. i usually take 3.5 courses per year instead of 5, so that's 4 courses one semester and then 3 courses the next. this semester i did the 4 courses with the really intense one i was worrying about in this thread and i definitely won't be doing as well as i'm used to doing. i'm kind of curious to see what grade i got in this course, but also kind of scared and not wanting to know. i'll update you guys when i get my final grade though.

ahh gotcha! you know what as long as you worked hard who cares about the grade?? no one is going to look at your transcript and deny you a job due to just one grade. Anyone who looks are you as a professional will be more than impressed that you ace all of the other classes while balancing motherhood as well. You know, it is a very low statistic (in the one digits I think) of women who have children as a young age that actually get a higher education. Be proud of yourself. :-)

Update:

OMFG I got a 74! I was worried about passing, so I don't even know how that happened, but I don't even really care. Phew, weight off my shoulders, I'm so relieved. Yay!
