where do you buy clothes?

So right now I have one pair of pants, that fit. That I can wear out of the house. (meaning no huge stains, tears, et cetera) No lie.

Goodwill is such a crapshoot. I've been looking on eBay for jeans 18 lot, and not finding anything I would wear. So where do you guys shop? So many people say thrift shops and A I don't have the time to comb through thrift shops. B I don't have a car even if I had time, I wouldn't be able to drive all over hill an dale. I am lucky to have a goodwill right next to the grocery store and I do find lots of decent cute stuff there. Except never any pants! Do I seriously have to go to Target and pay like $30 for one pair of jeans?

I have a value village near me. They are a thrift store, but they have so much more than Salvation Army and Goodwill. You are almost sure to find something that you like & that fits perfectly. Really, that's the only place I shop for clothes for myself.

i only shop at goodwill and savers.

i go to the goodwill in the more ritzy and trendy neighborhoods, they tend to have a nicer selection.

I love Savers (Value Village in Canada)! They seem to have the best selection for clothing of the thrift stores in my area.. and they are much more well organized.. its easy to find things there.

If you can find privately owned second hand stores they will often have a nicer selection!

The thrift shop is okay, but I had enough of that as a kid!! I still love a good bargain, though. I usually try Marshalls, I bought a great pair of jeans for 12.99 there. And new!! Also, try outlet malls or stores, they tend to have huge discounts on name brands..And going out of business sales are great for finding lots of stuff on sale!

i raid my friends and moms closets when they are purging their stuff and then i alter most of my clothes to suit me. I also shop and value village, salvation army, catholic action ( free store - practically) and the mod shop. i usually buy things with potential to be awesome, and alter them as needed. i rarely find things that are good enough as is... i really hate shopping, and malls. to the point where it is already below freezing here, and i dont have a winter coat, because i refuse to go to the gap/ old navy/ american eagle whatever - because it is $$$$$$$$$ on top of being morally disturbing. I can sometimes convince myself to buy stuff from places like winners, marshalls, etc. but its usually when im in need of a new pair of shoes.

Marshalls, A.J. Wright, TJ Maxx all stores that have women, mens, girls n boys clothes plus some household goods and bedding and shoes. all reduced price. alot of brand names for like half the price.

i shop at Old Navy sometimes but thats when i get coupons in the mail :)

and theres also this store called Platos Closet. its a higher end thrift store. its "gently" used clothes for SUPER cheap! bought a pair of brand name jeans for like ummm $5 one time!

the thrift store thing doesnt work for me. I buy most of my clothes from kohls, mervyns, or target. as long as you watch the sales and really look around, you should find something. kohls has great clearnace racks and i have gotten jeans there for about 10$.

I love thrift stores..... Goodwill, Value Village, Salvation Army, consignment stores, etc.

I also like Wal-Mart and Giant Tiger... I'm not a big spender AT ALL when it comes to clothing. Yet, I always look stylish. Love it! :)

Just to let you know- The Gap, Inc's Gap Foundation supports alot of rad causes like AIDS relief as well as giving to Hurricane Katrina victims and every winter they put out a specialty item such as a Teddy Bear and 100% of the profits go towards providing brand new jackets to kids in need.
They also spend millions if not billions of $$ on environmental causes.

Whatever issues they used to have are no more, so don't feel bad shopping there!

im not saying that i have a HUGE Problem with shopping at gap or whatever. like i have bought some stuff from there. but it doesnt matter where i buy new things from, they is always that knowledge in the back of my head that there is some kind of malpractice happening behind the scenes of these products right. and its not just clothing, its food etc. its pretty inescapable.

No, actualy it's not. Those issues were resolved years ago.
I know because I work for their corporate and am VERY involved with the company. It was a huge issue to me because like you I was under the impression that their labor practices were horrid, so I asked around and did some research. Things are on the up & up.
I would NEVER shop or work for someone who employed child labor, that is a no no.

so what? just because they got called out for all the awful things they are doing, they changed it? I bet that makes all those famlies of child labour vicitims so happy.

not to mention that there wa a report on npr not to long ago that there market share had plummeted becuase of thier tarnished image and that the only reason they changed thier ways (if they did) was to be put back into societies good grace. i still cant shop thier knowing that the only reason for any good deed they do is not for goodwill, only for more profits.

word to that. If they had any sort of social conscience, they wouldn't have done it in the first place.

We have to remember how affordable Old Navy is, ya know?
It falls into the same thing as Walmart.
Walmart SUCKS worse than any company I can think of.
However, I have 3 children and struggle to afford groceries & clothing so as much as I would like to be able to shop somewhere else, sometimes my financial situation does not allow me that privilage.
There are many things that factor.

i totally agree with you. all im saying is that i still believe they are evil, and whenever possible i try to spend my money other places.

my family was supported for a long tme by walmart, but i cannot stand behind thier practices and have not stepped foot in on for years now, but i have other options living in a big city...when there are affordable options i take them, but i dont expect everyone to have the same options.

I shop at Aeropostale, Hollister, American Eagle, Gap, and occasionally I buy a bag or two at Coach. I've been making money from my music for about 3 years, so I use that to buy things for myself sometimes. Most of the money for my clothes comes from my aunt though, who is now my guardian.

I think you can find a great deal at any mall. Jeans are always on sale. I usually only shop sale racks, and go to JCPenny's, Sears, Belks, and stores like 579, Body Shop, and Charlotte Rousse. When I lived in FL, I loved Bealles Outlet!! I haven't bought jeans in years though... And I can never find ones I really end up liking. Another place I get my jeans from is the 127 Yard Sale that runs through here and some other states in August.

I really don't like WalMarts jeans all that much, but I get my shirts, bras and undies from there. My daughter wears WalMart clothing and Family Dollar clothing.

For maternity I like Once Upon a Child. But not for children's clothing, overpriced and faded..
